My parents once told me to go to college and get a real job. “You’re very talented, but you’ll never get paid to draw. You need to get a real job and keep art as a hobby,” they would say. Well, I went to college to pursue a “real job” in Biology, only to end up miserably discouraged after my first year. I took a year off from school and worked at our family greenhouses and farm stand awaiting divine inspiration. I found what I was looking for at Champlain College, and I’ve been hooked on graphic design ever since. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Multimedia & Graphic Design and started my career.
I’ve worked for a commercial printer as an in-house graphic designer and illustrator and handled all sorts of projects from large corporate marketing campaigns to designing custom wedding invitations. All of my experiences have taught me the importance of clear communication, teamwork, and strong customer relationships.
I have always been artistic and find design to be a perfect blend of creative expression with purpose. I am passionate about art and design and feel very fortunate to have built a career that I love. My favorite traditional medium has always been pen & ink, but I also enjoy watercolors and acrylic painting. Adding the tools of digital media to the traditional arts has opened doors to limitless creative possibility.
I love being outdoors, and can usually be found rooting around in our gardens chasing dragonflies, tending perennials, sampling vegetables and building cairns. I try not to take myself too seriously. In my life, laughter has always been an unstoppable positive, healing force, and I find myself attempting to draw it out of every person I meet.
