Spending time on Lake Champlain is one of the things we take for granted here in Vermont. This painting was inspired by a glorious sunset after a frightening storm. My husband and I were enjoying a lovely breeze sipping beer and soaking up the sun on a hot August day. Before we knew it a huge dark wall of clouds was coming in from the lake, fast! We barely got inside and closed all the windows before the rain and lightening hit with such force, we thought for sure that we’d be blown away like Dorothy. The power went out and the storm passed as quickly as it had arrived, leaving tree branches and lawn chairs scattered in its wake. A few hours later, we were amazed to see a brilliant technicolor sunset, a perfect tribute to summer in Vermont.
